Going to a desk job everyday in the city where you are required to wear a suit and tie and look generally presentable, and most importantly, fit in, can become tiresome and frustrating for those with a desire to let a flair of personality shine in everything they do. This is where the 'customisation' of the classic suit ooh has come from, and has manifested itself in a couple of ways. One of the most prominent is the wearing of brightly coloured, or contrasting socks with a suit, contrary to the usual custom of matching the colour of your socks with the colour of your trouser. Another is the use of things like pocket squares, and boldly coloured or patterned ties. All of this allows the wearer to, in a subtle way, have his or her own personality break through the monotony of the unofficial uniform of the city worker.

Although I wouldn't necessarily take these examples so literally as to design conventional garments and place them with bright coloured socks, I think the concept behind it is really strong, and something I can definitely push forward into my design process.
