Polish Resistance Against the Nazis

Alliances and groups formed in the face of adversity or oppression are something that I find really interesting, as they are escaping one kind of uniformity, and in a way creating another (although obviously the new found alliances are often much more beneficial in their uniformity).

These images show various groups who opposed the Nazi regime during WWII. In many cases of underground rebellion overt uniforms, unifying these groups were not viable, as they would be too easily identifiable by the oppressing force. Therefore small variations, details and other such things were often used so that alliance members could identify each other with little risk of being found by the wrong people.
